Around 5:30 pm on Tuesday April 24, 2018, all fire departments in the county were called out to a structure fire in the Hickory Grove area. First Responders arrived to find the home of Steven and Jennifer Williams fully involved. The heat from the log home was so intense it ignited near by structures and the lawn. Crews from Lee, Pinetta, Madison, Cherry Lake, New Home and Greenville began to douse the home with thousands of gallons of water. Unfortunately their efforts were in vane and the home and all its contents were lost.
No one was home at the time the fire begun and the cause was not immediately clear. The State Fire Marshall was asked to investigate the cause and the American Red Cross was called to help the family.
Family, Friends and neighbors from near and far converged at the Williams home to offer love and support. Anyone wishing to help with cloths or other donations can drop them off at Lee Elementary School. There will be an account opened at Madison County Community Bank in the name of Steven and Jennifer Williams for monetary donations.
