Richardson and Johnson Arrested on Drug Charges

Major David Harper of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Monday, February 27, 2017 Drug Task Force investigators received information that a wanted fugitive was hiding at the residence of Rodney Lewis Richardson located on Cattail Drive in Madison. At 1:56 p.m. investigators went to the residence in attempt to make contact with the wanted person. Upon arrival investigators made contact with Richardson who claimed that he was alone at the residence. While speaking with Richardson, investigators observed a .22 caliber rifle within reach of Richardson. Investigators had prior knowledge that Richardson is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possession firearms. Investigators also detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from Richardson. When asked about the odor of marijuana Richardson admitted that he had been smoking marijuana inside the residence. Richardson was placed under arrest for the firearm violation and was being escorted to the patrol vehicle when fugitive Calvin Johnson exited the residence. Johnson was placed under arrest for an active Failure to Appear warrant.

DTF investigators secured the residence and obtained a search warrant.
