Tropical Depression Nine - Flash Flood Watch

FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FOR HEAVY RAIN THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING FOR THE FLORIDA BIG BEND AND PORTIONS OF SOUTH GEORGIA.

 

INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN FLORIDA

DIXIE, FRANKLIN, GULF, JEFFERSON, TAYLOR, WAKULLA, GADSDEN, LAFAYETTE, LEON, LIBERTY AND MADISON. IN 

 

A TROPICAL CYCLONE IN THE CENTRAL GULF OF MEXICO WILL SLOWLY APPROACH THE REGION TODAY AND THURSDAY. THE HEAVIEST RAIN WILL LIKELY OCCUR THURSDAY AND THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY BUT ISOLATED HEAVY RAIN IS POSSIBLE AS EARLY AS THIS AFTERNOON. MOST GAGES IN THE WATCH AREA WILL GET 3 TO 6 INCHES OF RAIN. BUT ISOLATED AMOUNTS OF 8 TO 12 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE. THESE HEAVY RAINS ESPECIALLY IF THEY OCCUR OVER A SHORT DURATION MAY CAUSE LIFE THREATENING FLASH FLOODS.

 

THE MOST VULNERABLE AREAS ARE URBAN AREAS SMALL CREEKS AND ANY LOW LYING AREAS WITH LIMITED DRAINAGE.

 

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
