MADISON, FL (8/15/16) – The public is invited to a Community Policing Forum scheduled Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 6 p.m., at the Madison County Senior Center located at 1161 SW Harvey Greene Drive.
Representatives from the following law enforcement agencies have been invited to participate in a panel discussion and to answer questions from the public: City of Madison Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, State Attorney’s Office, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Florida Highway Patrol.
“This will be an interactive discussion between members of the community and law enforcement agencies,” Madison Police Chief Ken Moore said. “The discussion is aimed at improving communication and relationships between members of the community and the agencies.”
North Florida Community College’s Police Academy will provide a simulator for shoot/don’t shoot scenarios. No weapons will be used in this simulated exercise.
“The public will have the opportunity to actually place themselves in a police-type situation where they would need to make a split-second decision,” Moore said. “I believe this will give the public a better feel for what police officers often encounter.”
A drawing for door prizes will be held at the end of the forum.
For more information about the event, phone the Madison Police Department at (850) 973-5077.
