Tuesday February 16, 2016 Madison 911 Center received a call of a car verses semi on I-10 West of Exit 258 (I-10 & Hwy 53). Madison Fire Rescue, Madison EMS, Madison County Sheriff’s Department and the Florida Highway Patrol were dispatched.
The location given to dispatch was very general which caused responders to search I-10 from Exit at Hwy 53 pass the Exit at Hwy 14 finally finding the wreck about ½ mile west the Captain Brown overpass.
It appeared the semi was heading West on I-10 in the outside lane when a blue Camaro struck the semi in the rear. Both vehicles were able to maintain control and pulled into the emergency lane. The driver of the semi stated the Camaro hit him so hard he thought a front tire had blown out causing his truck to swerve.
The driver of the Camaro reported no injuries while the driver of the semi reported pain in his neck and was transported to Madison County Hospital for further evaluation.
