Water service to be cut; precautionary boil-water notice to be issued

May 22, 2015

MADISON, FL (May 20, 2015) -- The City of Madison will cut water service and issue a precautionary boil-water notice to a portion of the city north of U.S. 90 (Base Street) on Tuesday, May 26 from 9:30 p.m., to approximately 12:30 a.m., on Wednesday, May 27.

The affected area is U.S. 90 (Base Street) in the south to Duval Avenue in the east to Livingston Street in the north to Meeting Avenue in the west.

The reason for the city’s actions is that a damaged 4-inch water valve will be replaced at the north-side intersection of U.S. 90 (Base Street) and State Road 53 North (Washington Avenue).

As a precaution, the city is advising all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes be boiled.  A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient.  As an alternative, bottled water may be used.

This precautionary boil-water notice will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected and a bacteriological survey shows the water is safe to drink.

For more information, phone Madison City Hall at (850) 973-5081.
