Monday evening February 23, 2015 the Madison County School District invited local school volunteers to the District offices for some refreshments and to say thank you for the many hours of service they volunteer in the schools. As the volunteers entered the room they were greeted with smiles, expressions of appreciation and a lapel pin. The lapel pin pictured a Learning Lamp. Volunteers were encouraged to wear the pin often and when asked what it was for to explain they had received it for volunteering in the schools and suggest that they do the same.
The school district has about 300 volunteers who help in and out of the classroom. Doing things like reading to students, tutoring students, grading papers, helping out on field trips and much more. Having volunteers in the schools improves the student’s chances to excel. If you are interested in volunteering at the schools you can contact the district office at 973-1530.
