Tractor Causes Rear-end Collision

October 16, 2014

At approximately 8:50am Thursday morning October 16th Madison EMS and Madison Fire Rescue were called out to a two car accident about five mile north of Madison on Highway 53 N.


An older model grey Chevy was headed south into town and begin to slow for a tractor also headed south, when a white Toyota failed to slow down and hit the Chevy in the rear causing it to veer to the right and coming to rest in the tree line on the right shoulder of the road. The Toyota came to rest about 200 feet away in the north bond lane. The Tractor left the scene before reponding units arrived.


EMS checked out the occupants of the Toyota. No one reported any injuries. EMS returned to the Station. Madison Fire Rescue assisted by Madison Sheriff’s Deputy’s removed the Toyota from the road to allow for the free flow of traffic. And cleaned the roadway of debris from the accident.


Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Madison Fire Rescue, Madison EMS and The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
