Marijuana Arrest

August 1, 2014

Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that on Monday the 28th day of July 2014 at 2:48 pm investigators of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Duval and Bunker Street for committing a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver (identified as Cedrick Brown) investigators detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

Investigators explained the traffic violation to Brown who stated that he wasn’t paying attention. After completing the enforcement action for the traffic violation, investigators questioned Brown regarding the marijuana odor. Brown admitted that he had smoked marijuana in the car two hours earlier and that he still had a small amount of marijuana in a jacket pocket on the seat of the vehicle.

Investigators recovered two small plastic bags containing the marijuana from the jacket and placed Brown under arrest without incident.
