BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MADISON COUNTY, FLORIDA
MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING
MONDAY, JULY 14, 2014
The Board of County Commissioners of Madison County, Florida met this day in Special Session with the following members present: Justin Hamrick (District 1), Wayne Vickers (District 2), Clyde Alexander (District 4), and Rick Davis (District 5). Also present were County Coordinator Allen Cherry and County Clerk Tim Sanders. District 3 Commissioner Ronnie Moore was unable to attend due a scheduling conflict.
The Chairman, Honorable Justin Hamrick, called the meeting to order and explained the purpose of the Special Meeting was to re-consider an award of Balboa Drive paving bid.
Mr. Cherry explained at the last Regular Meeting on July 9th the Board awarded Dixie Paving & Grading the bid for paving Balboa Drive based upon a total low bid amount of $834,983.05. At that time the County Engineer explained said bid amount was a recalculated total based upon an addition of each unit price and was less than the total amount submitted by Dixie Paving & Grading in their bid.
Mr. Cherry reported Dixie Paving & Grading will honor the original total bid in the amount of $862,342.12 that was submitted in response to a request for bids, which is still by far the low bid. He also reported the County Attorney advised the Board may reconsider the bid based upon said information. A motion was made by Commissioner Davis and seconded by Commissioner Vickers to approve Dixie Paving & Grading’s original total bid in the amount of $862,342.12, which is still the low bid, for said paving project. Motion carried 4-0.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the Chair adjourned the meeting at 5:40 P.M.
