Obituary: David Shiver

June 4, 2014

David Shiver, age 72 died Saturday, May 31, 2014 at his home in Springhill, Florida. He was born in Leon County on February 22, 1924 to the late Willard E Shiver and Lucille Nichols. He was an All-State Insurance agent for 15 years. Mr. Shiver lived most of his life in Perry, moving to Springhill in 1983. While in Perry he was a past president of both the Perry Kiwanis and Perry Jaycees, a member of the Perry Elks Club and a Supervisor at Gulf Telephone Company for 16 years. He was of the Christian faith and also served for six years in the Army Reserves. 

Mr. Shiver is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Jo Shiver of Springhill, Florida; two brothers: Ted Shiver of Eridu, Florida and Buddy Shiver of Vidalia, Georgia; one sister Rhonda Aderholt of Branford, Florida and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Willard and Lucille Shiver. 

Funeral services for Mr. Shiver will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Beggs Funeral Home in Perry with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Gardens.
