Martin Arrested Again for Burglary
Major David Harper of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at 2:29 p.m. deputies were dispatched to a residence located on Garden Road in response to Michael Scott Martin trespassing. Deputies had knowledge that Martin had previously received a trespass warning for this residence. Upon arrival Martin was no longer present at the residence. The complainant informed deputies that Martin had entered the residence without permission and stolen a set of keys and a cell phone that belonged to the victim’s daughter before fleeing the residence on foot. Deputies began to canvass the area and was able to locate the keys on the edge of the road. A short time later, deputies received information that Martin was spotted walking out from behind another residence a short distance away. Deputy Ben Pike responded to that location and was able to apprehend Martin without incident. Martin stated that he threw the cell phone somewhere on Garden Road. At the time of this arrest, Martin was out of jail on a $6,000 bond resulting from his arrest on December 16, 2017 for the charges of Burglary While Armed, Criminal Conspiracy, Grand Theft, Possession of Burglary Tools, Trespass While Armed and Loitering in Lee, FL.
