Fire Crews Save Local Homes From Blaze
Tuesday Afternoon, March 21, 2017, the Madison Communication center called out all East side fire departments to a shed fire in close proximity to homes. The black smoke could be seen from miles away as responding fire crews approached.
Upon arrival, two large utility buildings were fully engulfed in flames. Two homes were less than fifty feet away from the out of control blaze. Fire crews quickly began attacking both fires with water to protect the nearby homes as well as another nearby shed. Within minutes the blaze was brought under control.
Witnesses said there was a small burn pile they were using to burn scrap wood taken off of one of the utility buildings they had been dismantling. The building became unstable and fell on the fire, igniting the building in flames. The fire quickly spread to a nearby shed. Both sheds buildings were completely destroyed.
Madison Fire/Rescue, Pinetta Fire/Rescue and The Division of Forestry responded to the call.
