Brandon Goldman assigned to the Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team stopped a silver Jeep SUV west bound on I-10 near the 250 mile marker for following other motorist too close at an unsafe distance. Sgt. Goldman made contact with the driver identified as Pedro Tomas Lopez. As Sgt. Goldman was explaining the traffic violation and his concern for the safety of the motorist traveling on the highway he detected a strong odor of Marijuana coming from with the interior of the Jeep. Sgt. Goldman requested his partner Sgt. Mike Maurice to respond to the traffic stop for routine assistance. Once Sgt. Maurice arrived Lopez was informed that the odor of Marijuana was detected coming from within the Jeep and Lopez was instructed to exit the vehicle. Lopez told Sgt. Goldman that he had ingested Marijuana prior to leaving Orlando and refused to exit the Jeep. Sgt. Goldman and Sgt. Maurice removed Lopez from the vehicle however there was a large bulldog inside the Jeep as well. Madison County Animal Control was called and took possession of the dog. At that point the deputies were able to conduct a probable cause search of the Jeep. During the search, the deputies located a blue bag on the rear floor of the Jeep. Further search of the bag found it to contain 16 grams of Crack Cocaine, 94 grams of Marijuana, 142 grams of Marijuana THC paste a.k.a.
