On the evening of Friday, June 10, 2016 members of various fire and rescue departments in Madison County gathered at the North Florida Community College Public Safety Academy to learn the latest techniques in extrication of injured people from vehicles involved in traffic crashes. Equipment representatives demonstrated the battery operated electric hydraulic "jaws of life" spreaders and cutters and showed their effectiveness in removing jammed doors in wreck cars. Then the volunteers and full-time firefighters took turns using the equipment to practice the methods they had been taught. Another session will be held on Saturday the 25th of June at 9:00 AM at the same location.
