Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that the Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement initiated an investigation on the 18th day of March 2016 involving the death of 21 year old Travis Lavonte Solomon. The incident took place in Madison County in the area of 185 Apopka Trail.

On Wednesday the 20th day of April 2016, Investigators obtained a 1st degree Murder while armed Warrant and a Possession of Firearm by convicted felon warrant for Nicholas Rashawn Davis. Investigators attempted to coordinate with Davis, his family and his attorney to meet with them and turn himself in but Davis refused to cooperate and remained at large.

On Thursday the 21st day of April 2016 at approximately 5:00 PM Investigators received information that Davis was possibly in the area of 185 Apopka Trail. Investigators went to the area and was given consent to search the residences for Davis but he was not located.

Again on Thursday the 21st day of April 2016 at approximately 9:20 PM, Investigators received confirmed information that Davis was at the residence of Michael Terrance Pride in the area of 185 Apopka Trail in Madison Florida. The Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) quickly developed an operation to take Davis into custody. S.E.R.T. arrived at the 185 Apopka Trail area at 10:00 PM and surrounded the residence. S.E.R.T. utilized their Public Address speaker to call out the occupants of the residence and eventually were met at the front door by Michael Terrance Pride. S.E.R.T. members immediately started taking Pride into custody while further observing Davis standing inside the residence. Pride became loud and disorderly while resisting his arrest and as S.E.R.T. members were attempting to place him in hand cuffs as Canine Onyx was present on scene and Pride sustained a dog bite as he continued to fail to cooperate. While S.E.R.T members were dealing with Pride other S.E.R.T members quickly pursued Davis inside the residence and took him into custody without incident. Pride was treated on scene by EMS and transported to the county jail without further incident.
