Amtrak to Stop in Madison

The Amtrak Passenger Rail Inspection Train arrives in Madison, Friday, Feb. 19, at 4:14 p.m. and leaves at 4:24 p.m. This is an opportunity for Madison County to demonstrate that we want restoration of passenger rail from/to Madison. Daily service from New Orleans to Orlando and from Orlando to New Orleans. Tentative east bound (to Orlando) leaves Madison around 6:15 a.m.; west bound (to New Orleans) leaves Madison around 9:30 p.m., arrives New Orleans around 9:30 a.m. Madison can be a traffic generator / gateway for Moody Air Force Base, Valdosta State University, Valdosta and Lowndes County, Stephen Foster Cultural Center, Wild Adventures, Yogi Bear Park, Suwannee River State Park and Madison. This is an opportunity to invite people to stop in Madison and go on to Jacksonville, Orlando, Pensacola, Mobile, New Orleans. Show of support is essential. Madison had Amtrak service from 1993 - 2005. Katrina damaged the rails. CSX and Amtrak are receptive to restoration. Please arrive before 3:45 p.m. at the Madison Amtrak station.


Meet at the Madison Amtrak station this Friday, Feb. 19, before 3:45 p.m. to show your support for a return of passenger rail service from/to Madison.
