Two Arrested With Marijuana And Xanax
Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that on Thursday the 7th day of January 2016 at approximately 11:55 a.m., Deputy Goldman, with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement Unit conducted a traffic stop on a late model gold Nissan for a traffic violations while traveling Westerly on I-10. Deputy Goldman immediately observed diverted movements of the vehicle occupants and requested the driver to exit the vehicle.
Deputy Goldman explained to the driver the purpose of the traffic stop and requested the driver to provide his driver’s license. The driver explained that his license was inside the car. Deputy Goldman approached the passenger in the car to obtain the driver’s license and immediately detected the odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. The passenger provided the license of the driver, now identified as Michael D. Almodovar and the passenger (owner of vehicle) provided his license now identified as Tanner Williams.
Deputy Dewey arrived on scene and Williams and Almodovar were advised that a probable cause search was going to be conducted on the vehicle. The search discovered 51 grams of marijuana and prescription pills (Xanax). Neither Williams or Almodovar claimed ownership of the camouflage bag that contained the contraband. Both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the Madison County Jail without further incident.
