NFCC “Kids in College” Summer Camps Begin June 8

MADISON, FL – North Florida Community College’s “Kids in College: An Innovation of Fun” program offers a creative and educational outlet for children over the summer. Four camps are being offered on the NFCC campus for children in completed 1st through 6th grades – Kelly Center Kids Fitness Camp, Art Camp, Theater Camp and Cooking Camp - June 8-25 and July 6-23 at varying times (see schedule below). Camps will run Monday through Thursday with no camps scheduled during the week of June 29-July 2. NFCC is also hosting its annual Health Scholars Camp for completed 6th through 9th graders in three locations this year – in Madison at NFCC, in Suwannee County at Suwannee-Hamilton Technical Center and in Taylor County at Taylor Technical Institute.

2015 NFCC “Kids in College” Camp Schedule:

Kelly Center Kids Fitness Camp (Completed 1st-6th Grades)

Every day is about being healthy and getting active. Find out which fun, healthy activity is for you. Sign up and get challenged. Comfortable clothing and athletic shoes required.

  • DATES: June 8-25 | TIME: 8:00-10 a.m.

  • DATES: July 6-23 | TIME: 8:00-10 a.m.

Art Camp with Digital and Hands-On Art Projects (Completed 1st-6th Grades)

Children will draw, color and paint with a variety of mediums. Their creations will become memories of their summer of 2015. The main focus is to be expressive while having fun.

  • DATES: June 8-25 | TIME: 10:00 a.m.-12 p.m.

  • DATES: July 6-23 | TIME: 10:00 a.m.-12 p.m.

Theatre Camp with Weekly Skits (Completed 1st-6th Grades)

Kids will learn the ins and outs of theatre – acting, stage crew, set design and costuming. End the week with a fabulous show for friends and family, complete with costumes! Perfect to introduce young children to the wonder of theatre.

  • DATES: June 8-25 | TIME: 1-3 p.m.

  • DATES: July 6-23 | TIME: 1-3 p.m.

Cooking Camp (Completed 1st-6th Grades)

Cooking made fun! Learn about knife safety, microwave safety, using an electric mixer, blender, or other kitchen appliances. Additional kitchen basics such as: how to tell when noodles, cakes and cookies are done, and how to double a recipe or “half” it.

Health Scholars Camp (Completed 6th-9th Grades)

This three-day camp explores healthcare topics and careers – nursing, science, fitness and nutrition – in engaging, fun and educational ways. Campers will enjoy games, team building exercises, skills training with human patient simulators, guest speakers and field trips to local healthcare facilities.

  • Registration Deadline: Monday, June 29, 2015

Children attending camp must be registered prior to the first day of camp or by noted deadline. Camp costs vary and are based on half or full day camp options. Discounts will be applied for each second and third child in a family for Kelly Center Kids Fitness Camp, Art Camp, Theatre Camp and Cooking Camp.
