On the evening of Tuesday, May 19, 2015 Madison County Emergency Management sponsored the 3rd Annual Emergency Preparedness Expo. The event took place in the Van H. Priest Auditorium on the campus of North Florida Community College. Representatives from many organizations and agencies set up displays and many had free items for those attending. Some of the "gifts" to the community members that came were flash lights, weather radios, umbrellas, caps and informative handouts. Speakers included Bryan Koon (State Director of Florida Emergency Management), Mark Wool (National Weather Service-Tallahassee), Bruce Jordan (Madison Fire Chief), Epp Richardson (Chief Deputy of the Madison County Sheriff's Office), and Jeff Brewer (Manager of Engineering for Tri-County Electric). State Director Koon praised Madison County Emergency Management Director Tom Cisco for guiding Madison County in attaining national accreditation for his department. Madison County was the first small county in the United States to be granted this distinction. Director Koon also mention that Mr. Cisco will be leaving Madison County on June 5, 2015 to take a position with Emergency Management in Volusia County. The Expo was very informative and all attendees were challenged to take what they learned to their family, friends and neighbors.
