Barfield Arrest Spinning Up Hay Field

Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that on Friday the 6th day of March 2015 at 12:58 PM deputies were dispatched to 2190 NW Concord Church Road in regards to a Silver Ford F-150 truck spinning up a newly planted hay field. Upon arrival deputies met with the complainant who also owned the damaged hay field.

The complainant told deputies that they witnessed the truck causing the damage and followed it when it left the field. The complainant was able to provide the deputies with the tag number displayed on the Ford F-150. As deputies were taking the complaint they observed a vehicle approaching then stop and make a U-turn attempting to leave the area.

Deputies immediately pursued the vehicle and identified it to be a Silver Ford F-150 truck. The tag displayed on the truck matched the tag number provided by the complainant. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the F-150 and identified the driver as John Barfield and the passenger as Jessica Barfield. The deputies observed two open bottles of beer in the cab of the truck and further noted the brand of beer matched an empty beer bottle recovered from the damaged hay field and was able to match the bottle control numbers confirming the bottle from the field came from the same pack as the beer bottles inside the truck. Deputies also noted that the truck had fresh green grass and mud under the fenders and inside the wheels. Both individuals denied spinning up the hay field but admitted to riding dirt roads while drinking beer and appeared to be intoxicated. Deputies arrested both individuals and transported them to the Madison County Jail.
