Obituary: James Randolph (Randall) Grimes

James Randolph (Randall) Grimes, 64, of Pinetta, Fla., died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. He was born in Augusta, Ga., on Dec. 30, 1950, to Marie Solomon Grimes and the late James Jerome Grimes. Randall served eight years in the National Guard and retired in 2012 from Madison County Florida Correctional Institute. He was a member of the Halifax Masonic Lodge #81 in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Survivors include his mother, Marie Grimes of Clyattville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alton and Gail Grimes of Clyattville, Keith and Kay Grimes of Valdosta; nieces and nephews, Matt (Missy) Grimes, Jamie (Theresa) Gandy, all of Clyattville, Sara (Jase) Bass of Nashville, Tenn.; great-nieces, Taylor Bass and Baylee Gandy, his aunt; Frances Rogers Graham of Valdosta; two cousins, Patricia Grimes Boone and Mark Rogers, both of Valdosta; special lifetime friend, Charles Hall of Pinetta, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, J.R. and Ruby Dell Grimes; and maternal grandparents, Henry R. and Estelle Nelson Solomon.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Mollie Danner and Billy Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
