Greenville Man Parks on Train Tracks and Walks Home
Thursday December 18th 911 dispatch received a call about a man who had parked his car on the train tracks and walked home. Madison Sheriffs Deputies, Madison EMS and the Greenville Volunteer Fire Department responded.
The man, who has a history of mental illness, drove his car through the ditch and up the embankment and came to rest on the tracks about a mile east of 221 in Greenville. He exited the car and walked to his home just across the tracks. He could be heard yelling from a distance and was combatant with EMS and deputies. He was later transported to Appalachee Mental Health for a 72 evaluation.
CSX Railroad was notified and all trains where delayed until the car could be removed and the tracks inspected. The Greenville Volunteer Fire Department removed the car from the tracks and it was driven to the man’s residence with no apparent damage.
