Obituary: Clarence T. Mathers

Mr. Clarence T. Mathers, 91, passed away December 12, at his home in Greenville. He spent most of his life in Greenville. He was a member of the Greenville Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annelle Morgan Mathers and his parents: Lee and Eula Barclay Mathers; three brothers: J.L., Albert and Francis; and two sisters: Myrtice Mathers and Eunice Kerr.

Survivors include two daughters: Cynthia (Tom) Kelly, of Greenville and Diane Bizzle, of Greenville; one son, Jerry (Jan) Mathers, of Houston, Texas; and one sister, Ethel Bass, of Greenville. He has seven grandchildren: Jason and Josh Mathers; Jeff and Derek Burnette; Bridget Malone; and Matthew and Kimberley Bizzle. He has 14 great-grandchildren: Tyler and Hunter Burnette, Cody and Jordan Waller; Kersten and Kiley Malone; Addison, Jackson, Ella and Monroe Mathers; Dylan, Shelby, Dalton and Devin Crawford; several nieces and nephews; a long-time friend and son-in-law, Jimmy Burnette.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 15 at 11 a.m., at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel in Madison. Visitation was Sunday, December 14, from 5-7 p.m., at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was held at Evergreen Cemetery.
