NFCC Science Department hosts Chemistry Day event Saturday, Dec. 13

North Florida Community College invites local students, families and community to Chemistry Day event

Madison, FL – The North Florida Community College Science Department invites the public to its Chemistry Day event at NFCC on Saturday, Dec. 13. This fun-filled event is geared specifically toward giving local middle school and high school students the opportunity to explore and interact with the astonishing world of chemistry.

“The purpose of Chemistry Day is getting the youth in our district excited about chemistry and science,” said NFCC Chemistry Instructor Francis Agama. “I invite everyone to attend. We have some great activities planned and guest will also get to see the great science facility, labs and classrooms that students and the community have access to here at NFCC.”

Activities will be held at NFCC’s Morris G. Steen Jr. Science Learning Center (NFCC Campus, Bldg. 34) and include experiments and demonstrations such as fizz wizard, flame tests, crystal tree, silicate garden, foam city and elephant toothpaste.

The day kicks off Saturday morning, Dec. 13 at 9:30 a.m. with a “Fizz, Pop, Boom” demonstration and continues with activities designed for middle school students (8th grade and below) until 11:30 a.m. A second section for high school students begins at 1:30 p.m. and concludes at 3:30 p.m. NFCC instructors and students will be leading the demonstrations and available to answer questions throughout the day.
