Stray Bullet Hits Bystander

Sheriff Stewart reports that on Saturday the 8th day of November 2014 at 6:25 PM, Sheriff’s deputies responded to an alleged shooting at the area of Georgetown and Pecan Street. The complaint further explained a gray Chrysler Sebring was being chased by a white car that appeared to be involved in the shooting. Before arrival at this location, Deputies received additional information regarding a bystander being struck by a stray bullet while standing in his yard on Brookwood Avenue.

Deputies arrived on scene and met with the victim that advised he heard what he believed shots being fired from the direction of the Lee Avenue and Pecan Street intersection. The victim further described a dark colored SUV as being the vehicle from which shots were being fired. The victim was transported by EMS to Madison County memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

Investigators further located a home on Brookwood Avenue directly across the street from the victim’s residence that was struck by several bullets beneath a bedroom window. Occupants inside the home denied having any knowledge pertaining to the home being shot or shots even being fired in the area. Investigators questioned multiple persons in the area but no cooperation was provided. The case remains pending additional investigation.
