Obituary: Gussie Cone Joyner

, age 89, died Monday, November 10, 2014 in Orange Park, FL.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 15, 2014 in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home, Madison, Florida with burial to follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Greenville, FL. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Donations may be made in her memory to Haven Hospice, 745 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL 32065.

Gussie was born, raised and lived most of her life in Greenville, Florida, however she spent the last eight years at Augustine Landing in Jacksonville, Florida. She was the tenth child of eleven children born to Alfred and Gussie Cone. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward “Trigger” Joyner in 1991. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Greenville, FL. Gussie started her teaching career in Sirmans and later worked as a teacher’s aide at Greenville High School and Greenville Elementary School. Her life completely revolved around her family and especially her grandchildren. Her greatest joy was having family get-togethers and cooking for them.

She is survived by 2 sons: Edward Joyner (Lynn) of Keystone Heights, FL and Walter Joyner (Suk) of Melbourne, FL; 4 daughters: Gussie Alwood (John) of Orange Park, FL, Julia Hughes (Jack) of Fleming Island, FL, Darlene Hagan (Jack) of Greenville, FL, and Janet Frye (Everett) of Fleming Island, FL; A brother–in-law, Ray Joyner (Margie) of Jacksonville, Florida. 2 sisters-in-law: Inez Cone of Perry and Jan Cone of Greenville; 12 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
