BRUSH FIRE ON CAPTAIN BROWN ROAD
Just before Noon on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 Madison 911 center received a call concernng a brush fire west of Madison on Captain Brown Road. Florida Division of Forestry was first on scene and asked for assistance from Madison Fire Rescue. Madison assessed the scene and asked for more units from Greenville Fire Rescue and New Home Fire Rescue. The winds had changed and a burn pile got out of control of those who were clearng the land about 3 miles west of Madison on Captain Brown Road. A piece of heavy equipment was in danger but the responding personnel were able to save it. The fire danger in the Madsion area is high because of only receiving 1.06 inches of rain the entire month of October and having the first frost over the weekend. In addition, the brisk winds of last week helped dry out the vegetation. Fire units are aggressive in responding to any fires discovered in the county.
