Possession of Marijuana Over 20 Grams
Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that on Friday the 8th day of August 2014 at 12:24 AM a deputy of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Expedition on Hwy 221 South at the intersection of Short Street in Greenville. The deputy approached the Expedition and made contact with the driver who identified herself as Amberly Rose. As the deputy was explaining the reason for the traffic stop he detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the Expedition. After completing enforcement actions for the traffic violation committed the deputy instructed Rose and her passenger to exit the Expedition. The deputy told Rose that he could smell the marijuana and asked her where the marijuana was concealed. Rose told the deputy that the marijuana was under the passenger seat and that it belonged to her.
The deputy then conducted a probable cause search of the Expedition and a large bag containing nearly three ounces of marijuana was located under the passenger seat. During further search the deputy located a marijuana grinder and smoking pipe in the center console and Xanax pills in the trunk that was not prescribed to Rose or her passenger. Rose also claimed ownership of the Xanax. Rose was arrested without incident and transported to the Madison County Jail.
