Aggravated Domestic Battery

Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that on Tuesday the 5th day of August 2014 at 4:12 AM deputies of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 227 SW Garner Street in Greenville regarding a male subject entering the residence and attacking a female. While en-route deputies received updates from other 911 callers reporting that a man was dragging a woman down the street by her neck and the woman was screaming for help.

Upon arriving to the area deputies located a man standing beside a woman in the roadway approximately ¼ miles from the originating address. The deputies recognized the male to be Curtis Jones who was known by the responding deputies from previous incidents. Deputies’ immediately secured Jones who was highly intoxicated. The victim was extremely upset but did not appear to be injured. Medical assistance was offered to the victim but declined.

The victim reported that Jones entered the residence and began to push her around so she called 911. Jones snatched the phone away from the victim and hung it up. Jones then grabbed the victim around the neck and told her that “he would kill and bury her before cops arrived”. Jones then forced the victim out of the house and started dragging her down the road by her neck while continuously telling her that he would kill her. The victim stated that she believed she was going to be killed and that’s when the deputies arrived.

Curtis Jones was arrested and transported to the Madison County Jail without further incident.
