Dixon Arrested for Trespass
Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that on Thursday the 31st day of July at 10:15 pm deputies of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 237 Cocklebur Terrace in Lee in response to a complaint of a man who did not reside there spinning up the yard in a tan Chevrolet truck. The complainant reported that the driver of the truck was Doug Dixon and that he had fired at least two shots from the vehicle into the air.
As deputies were arriving they observed a Chevy truck matching the description provided by the complainant exiting the property onto Cocklebur Terrace. Deputies stopped the truck and quickly approached the driver who was identified as Douglas Dixon. Deputies immediately asked Dixon if he was armed with a firearm and Dixon denied having any.
Deputies instructed Dixon to exit the truck and patted him down for weapons finding none however when deputies looked into the truck through the opened driver’s door they observed a Ruger Semi-automatic handgun on the floorboard partially concealed under the seat. On the passenger seat deputies observed a wooden box labeled Winchester. Deputies secured the Ruger handgun and opened the box labeled Winchester to check for other weapons and discovered a bag of marijuana and a smoking pipe.
Dixon was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Madison County Jail.
