Perry Arrested for DUI
Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that on Friday the 18th day of July 2014 at 8:58 pm a deputy of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office was on routine patrol when he observed a male subject riding a motorized scooter west on Bunker Street with a faulty taillight. The deputy conducted a traffic stop with the intentions of issuing the operator (identified as Lyndon Perry) a correction card for the faulty taillight. While talking with Perry the deputy detected a strong odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from Perry’s person. The deputy questioned Perry who admitted that he had been drinking prior to operating the scooter.
The deputy requested that Perry participate in a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Exercises to determine if Perry’s normal faculties were impaired to the extent that he could not continue to safely operate the scooter. Perry agreed but was unable to successfully complete the sobriety exercises. Perry was placed under arrest and transported to the Madison County Jail without incident. Perry was given the Implied Consent Warning and agreed to submit to a Breath Alcohol Test resulting in breath samples of .120 and .115 above the legal limit of .08.
