STRONG NOONTIME THUNDERSTORM IN MADISON
At noontime on Thursday, June 12, 2014 a strong thunderstorm came through the city of Madison causing some damage and a partial electrical blackout. A tree fell on a car and in the street between First and Parramore on Macon Street. City crews quickly cleared the road but the vehicle remained on the property where it was hit. A power transformer appeared to have problems near the intersection of Livingston and Duval and a significant portion of the city was without power. Duke Energy crews responded to the scene to evaluate and correct the problem. No injuries were reported from the 40 mph winds and lightning that headed the storm.
